What one piece of advice would you give to someone starting their own business?

Digital Fridge will be celebrating 10 years of business this August. The picture below is of Tim who is a friend of mine and a long time owner of a local Chick-fil-a restaurant. When I was first starting Digital Fridge I asked him  “What one piece of advice would you give to someone starting their own business?” His response was, “Do you only want to know one thing?” His question lead us into a 2 hour long conversation over coffee. He gave me countless tips that day. One thing I remember Tim saying is “Only try to accomplish two major things each day. Leave the rest of the time open to develop relationships with the people around you whether it be clients, co-workers or family.”

I wish I could say that I only put two tasks on my to-do list each day, unfortunately that is not the case.  I do however, appreciate the many friends, family and clients that have helped Digital Fridge over the past 10 years. And by the way, I am thankful that Tim didn’t have more than 2 things on his to-do list  on the day we chatted 10 years ago.  Tim is a respected leader in our community and has been training  business leaders in other countries for the last 15 years. I am happy to be working with him on some video presentations for the leadership training that he does.

Tim Burchfield stops by the office to work on some leadership training videos.
